Frequently Asked Questions

What is ASCII art?

ASCII art is a graphic design technique that uses printable characters from the ASCII standard to create visual designs, pictures, or text banners. It originated in the early days of computing when graphical displays were not available, and remains popular in terminal environments, README files, and retro aesthetics.

What are the style differences?

Block style uses solid filled block characters (█) for bold, high-contrast output. Shadow style adds a lighter shadow layer below each letter for depth. Outline style uses a medium-fill character (▓) giving a slightly textured appearance. All three use the same underlying 5-row bitmap font.

Can I use this in a README or terminal?

Yes — copy the output and paste it anywhere that supports monospaced text, such as GitHub README files (inside a code block), terminal banners, Discord messages, or plain text files. Make sure to use a monospaced font to preserve the alignment of the characters.
